Easter Day

We did so much to celebrate Easter this year!  On Saturday our apartment complex had an Easter egg hunt at noon so at 11:58am we headed over to the play area and by the time we got there at noon all the eggs were gone.  Claire was so disappointed so we had our own impromptu egg hunt outside our door.  I ran upstairs and filled some eggs with candy she had already found from an earlier hunt and quickly hid them outside.  Claire didn't know the difference and enjoyed doing another hunt!

Easter morning Claire was so excited to find her basket and new bike!  Claire is pretty good at riding it and she will be even better when she grows another inch.

Now...don't judge that Tommy is in girly p.j.'s and do not tell him when his is older. ;)  They do not sell blanket sleepers this time of year and I couldn't even find boy ones online in his size...plus these ones work just as good as blue ones!

We had Easter dinner with our good friends, Rachel and Stas.  We each made yummy food for the dinner and Rachel decorated her house and dinner table adorably for the event!  She even filled some eggs for an Easter egg hunt for Claire.  Claire had such fun finding all the eggs and absolutely loves the Easter bunny stuffed animal that was hiding in a bush.

The whole week before Easter I tried to talk to Claire about the reason we celebrate Easter...that Jesus died for us, but was resurrected and that because He was, we can live with Him again.  I don't really think she had any idea what I was talking about, but maybe next year it will sink in.  To help her understand we did a Family Home Evening with Claire where we made Resurrection Rolls as an object lesson about Jesus being placed in the tomb, but His body not being there after He was resurrected.  I got the idea for this fun activity from my sister-in-law, Emily.  Thank you Emily for the great idea!  Here is the link if you want to check it out:  http://www.dltk-kids.com/recipes/resurrection_rolls.htm.  I am excited to do them again next year and maybe we will even dye Easter eggs!!
