It's been a while...

It's been a while since I last posted anything.  I guess that is because not much has been going on except for taking care of the kiddos and trying to get over sicknesses these last few weeks.  The best thing that happened since my last post was that Jacob's mom came to visit for a week.  We had a lot of fun just hanging out at the house and having a simple early birthday for her.  Claire just absolutely loved all the attention grandma gave and I'm not going to lie...I kinda checked out a little bit and let grandma and Jacob take care of her while they were at home.  It was nice!

The birthday party!

We have missed a lot of church and other activities the last few weeks because of sickness.  Both Claire and Tommy have had coughs for a few weeks so I kept them home trying to help them get over the coughs.  Didn't really work.  Last week Claire tripped on a rug and kept complaining that her leg hurt and wouldn't walk on it.  So the next day I called the doctor and we went to get x-rays to see if anything was damaged.  The x-ray didn't show anything and Claire would let both the doctor and me move her leg all around and push on it.  Claire just wouldn't walk on it and kept asking me to carry her everywhere.  That was exhausting.  While we were at the doctor's office the doctor decided to give Claire an antibiotic because she had her cough for so long.  The doctor prescribed Amoxicillian which Jacob is allergic to so I informed the doctor about that.  She said it wasn't a big deal to try it out on Claire so we went ahead.  A few days later Claire was so whinny and started throwing up and having diarrhea.  I didn't feel well either so at first I thought it was food poisoning, but it lasted so long that I think it was the stomach flu.  We stopped giving her the Amoxicillian because she couldn't keep anything down and she seemed to be doing a lot better.  Then after a few more doses she started throwing up again.  So we immediately quit the Amoxicillian and she is seeming to be doing better except she still has diarrhea.  All day I hear, "mommy hold you" (she means to say me) so there must be something still wrong.  It is nice to cuddle for a bit, but I cannot hold her all day having another child to take care of so it really gets on my nerves after a while.  So it is hard to know what she was really sick with...the stomach flu or an intolerance to the Amoxicillian...maybe both.  On top of all that she is getting her two-year old molars.  Claire has always had a horrible time teething and this is no exception...the teeth have been moving in for months.  I can see them just below the surface of her gums and we finally have 1 through.  Only 3 more to go...whoopie!  Oh, and she is finally walking again.

Claire and Tommy-(16 weeks)  when feeling pretty good!

I took Tommy to his 4-month check-up on Monday and he is doing great except the doctor found fluid behind his ears and some in his lungs.  Plus he has had a cough for 2+weeks so the doctor decided to give him an antibiotic this time too.  (Not Amoxicillian though...)  Tommy was so sad and sick yesterday from his immunizations, but today he is much better so hopefully this medicine will help and he will be all better soon!

And now Jacob is home from work today with the stomach flu.  Poor guy!  Luckily he gets to sleep all day.  I wonder when I will get some paid time off when I am sick. :)  I just hope we will all feel better soon and that we can feel up to getting out of the house eventually.
