Valentine's Day

We had a surprising Valentine's Day this year.  The week before Valentine's day Lincoln was super sick with a high fever for about 3 days.  We are talking like 104-degrees even with medicine.  Lincoln had no other symptoms so the doctor and I concluded he had some sort of virus.  Lincoln was so sad and miserable during this time.  He actually let me just hold him which never happens, usually he is far too busy!  Lincoln's fever lasted for so long that I had to end up taking Lincoln to the ER a few days before Valentines on doctors orders.  They took a urine sample and a blood sample, but of course (thankfully) everything came back normal and so we went back home with the same instructions and Lincoln was better the next day.  Back to Valentine's day...we had an early appointment at the doctors office to get Lincoln a follow-up appointment.  Jacob had to work early and he was planning on driving to Columbus for a ward temple trip.  I had some swelling under my eye that was really beginning to bother me so before Jacob rushed off to Columbus he called me to see if I ever made an eye appt.  I didn't because I was rushed getting three kids to the doctor's office, so I stopped what I was doing and was able to call and get and appointment for right away.  Jacob met me at the doctors office to take over the kids and I rushed to my eye appointment.  I ended up having a lower eye-lid infection.  Jacob was going to miss the endowment session at the temple, but he was planning on still going down for the baptisms for the youth.  While I was at the eye doctor and filling my prescriptions, it started to snow like crazy!  I was really worried about the roads and thinking that the trip should be canceled.  Thankfully we got word that the roads to Columbus were terrible with tons of accidents and so the trip was canceled.  So we went from having a super busy Valentines that we couldn't spend together to having a fun family time at home!  The snow was so bad that church was even canceled the next day.

To celebrate the holiday I made a heart shaped pizza for lunch!  Well...it is kind-of heart shaped, but Claire could tell what it was supposed to be, so that counts, right?!

Claire remembered having pink German pancakes the previous year and wanted me to make them again for our Valentine's tradition.  I guess that will be our Valentine's dinner tradition from now on!  Except I accidentally added too much milk and so the texture was way off, I couldn't even eat them, sad!  But the kids didn't seem to notice so that was good!  I'll do better next year, ha!  I got each of the kids a little Valentine's present and note which they loved and Jacob got me a rice cooker.  He is quite the romancer!  Ha!  Actually our rice cooker had just broken so he got it as a semi-joke gift.  Our gift to each other is a super fun date to see the Broadway performance of Cinderella at Playhouse Square in Cleveland.  We are so excited even though the show isn't until the summer!
