Celebrating Kirtland

During the month of October the historic sites in Kirtland celebrated the 10th anniversary of when the visitor's center was opened.  Elder Ballard from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Gay came to Kirtland to help us celebrate and speak to us at Stake Conference.  There were a lot of activities held that weekend in honor of Kirtland and Elder Ballard.

The main family thing was a morning 1-mile walk up the hill from the church historic sites to the Kirtland temple.  After the family walk there was a yummy pancake breakfast.  Then the primary children were able to sing two songs to Elder Ballard and Elder Gay and their families who were visiting.

Jacob pushing the stroller up that BIG hill to the temple.  He worked it like a champ!

Claire and the primary kids practicing and waiting to sing to Elder Ballard and Elder Gay.

Tommy was bored with the waiting so the wood chips provided lots of amusement for him.

Elder Ballard walking up to watch the primary kids.  I felt the spirit so strongly the moment he stepped out of the car.

Claire shaking Elder Ballard's hand after singing.  Claire did a great job singing!

Jacob and I were able to enjoy and learn a lot from the adult session of stake conference and Jacob got to sing in the choir for the Sunday session of conference.  It was a really enjoyable weekend and we were sad to not be able to attend all the events to celebrate Historic Kirtland!
