Our First Date!

Ok, so it really wasn't our first date, that happened late January 2006.  The picture below proves it and is slightly embarrassing.  :)

 
We did have our first official date without Claire on Friday, April 30th.  We even hired a girl from our church to babysit.  She seemed to do a great job.  She said Claire didn't cry or whine when we left and was happy the 2.5 hours we were gone.  Jacob and I have only left her two other times for an extended period of time.  Once with my mom to see the movie New Moon at Thanksgiving and we left her with a good friend and her husband outside the Los Angele's Temple while we did a session there.  We have found it difficult to leave her before now because we had moved into new areas and we didn't have close friends or family around that we trusted.  Thankfully I did not have any anxiety about leaving her this time.

Jacob and I went out to eat at a restaurant we had not been to yet, the Thai Orchid.  Of course we had Thai food and it was decently delicious.  We would probably go there again.  After dinner we played a game of miniature golf at the local Putt-Putt.  (Jacob won by one stroke, one lucky stroke!)  It was so refreshing to just be concerned about Jacob and myself.  I really appreciated being able to focus all my attention on Jacob and not worry about what the baby was doing or what she needed.  I felt like the real me again and not just a mom.  I hope we can make this at least a monthly ritual, if not more!
