Birthday Party with Friends!

On Saturday we had a birthday party with friends for Claire.  A new family that moved into our ward has a son who turned 3 the same week that Claire turned 2 so we had a combined party.  We did the party at a local park that had both a small splash area and a playground.  The kids had such a blast splashing in the water and playing.  For snacks we had cheese and strawberries and grapes in a ziploc tied with a pipe-cleaner to look like a butterfly, watermelon, chips and salsa, crackers, and cupcakes with oreo crumbs and a gummy worm on top!  We had a ton of fun playing and eating and we were glad for a wonderful turn-out of friends!

We did a bugs and butterfly theme to fit both boys and girls.  The party favor bags with their bugs and butterfly's.  Inside we had play-dough, bubbles, plastic bugs, bug stickers, and gummy worms.

The only structured activity we tried was to have the kids drop bug "pills" in water and watch them expand and grow.  The activity didn't work out very well because we needed warm water and we only had very cold water so most of the bugs never expanded.  Lesson learned for next time.

Claire got these awesome butterfly wings for her birthday from a friend!

Jacob helped Claire and her friend Colton catch a frog.  Claire loved to have it in her hand!

I love making birthday's a big deal even though Claire probably won't remember it.  It was fun to watch all her excitement and having fun with all her friends.  Totally worth all the effort!

  1. wish we could have been there! What a great idea to do a combo-party with Quintin.
