First, here is Claire on her birthday morning! She is talking about her favorite people: mommy, daddy, Jesus, and Liam (her friend).
- Weight 23lbs 4oz, Height 34in, Head Circumference 47cm.
- Claire is talking sooo much. She says so many words that I cannot even begin to count them. Claire still signs for a few words she doesn't say yet, but she mostly just talks now. It is so fun to communicate with her using both words and signs and she can tell me just about anything she wants.
- Claire can count to 10! She has been doing this for over a month now and I just find it so amazing what her little brain soaks up. Claire counts really well and will do it all by herself without prompts.
- She is a color girl now. Claire recognizes and says all the colors and she loves to do it. She loves to point out things in stories and tell us what colors they are. Claire has also been doing this over a month now, but she has recently gotten much better at it, rarely confusing the colors. She loved saying yellow for a few weeks, so she always tried yellow first, but would say the right color when encouraged. The colors she knows are yellow, blue, purple, red, pink, green, orange, white, and black.
- Claire LOVES room time and so do I!! In the morning I have her go in her room, we pull out her toys and turn on some church music and set a timer. She plays in her room happily for 50 minutes. This time is so beneficial to her and me; she asks to do room time in the morning and loves being able to play and explore all by herself. I love it because I can shower, clean, or work on the computer without interruptions. I am also excited to use this time when the new baby comes to nurse him or do whatever I need to for him. Yay room time!!
- Claire still cannot get enough of the show Signing Time. We rent them from our library and she gets to watch one once a day. She just soaks up the signs and information and I love them because they have great music and are super educational. They teach her all about the world around her.
- This girl is a mover. Claire loves to jump, run, climb, and move around as much as possible. She is so cute to watch jumping around and she actually gets some good air off the ground. She also likes to gallop kinda like a horse, she figured out that one all on her own.
- Claire's favorite game to play by herself or with us is going to sleep. She loves to lay a blanket down anywhere and pretend to put herself, her puppy, or mommy and daddy asleep. She whispers shh and will turn off the lights. After about two seconds she yells "wake up" and then everyone is awake. Then we do it all over again. I really enjoy this game when I am tired and get to "sleep" on the couch. :)
- She still loves her daddy. Claire is definitely a daddy's girl. She loves him to pieces and asks for him to come home during the day, saying "daddy home?" I can understand why...he plays with her all the time when he is home and gives her lots of special attention. Plus he can move and throw her around while I cannot being so pregnant now. Jacob is a wonderful daddy and I'm glad they have a special and fun relationship!
Claire loves to play in the sand. We were planning to go to the beach for her birthday to let her play in the sand, but I don't think the thunderstorms are going to cooperate. We will have to go another time soon!
This was Claire a few weeks ago during room time. She had been up late the night before and didn't get enough sleep. I was so proud of her for doing so well in room time and come to find out she was sleeping! Luckily she hasn't done it again since. :)
Good morning to the Birthday Girl! Look at her face cheesing it up for the camera. This was also her first night in the "big" crib. She was so excited to sleep in her new crib and we didn't have any issues. Jacob and I wanted to get her a new place to sleep a few months before the new baby comes so that she didn't feel the baby was taking over her mini crib. We also realized that she really needed a bigger place to sleep when she only had an inch or two left in her crib at her feet when her head was all the way at the top. :)

Happy Birthday Claire! I hope she had a wonderful day. Its hard to believe how much she has grown since we saw her last.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny to see how similar some little girls are with the things they like. I remember right around Claire's age Brynley was really into colors (we watched the rainbow signing time video over and over and over again). She too had her favorite color that she would point out or would want everything to be. And there is something about little girls (especially the oldest it seems) with their daddy's. Maybe if they were around their daddy's all day they may not think they are quite as fun ;).
We also really like the "pretend to be sleeping" game. I especially liked it being pregnant. Oh little girls are so fun. I guess we'll both find out soon what little boys are like :).
