Last week I was giving the kiddos a bath. I had washed and took care of Tommy first and as I was trying to wash Claire, Tommy kept trying to climb on the bathtub and look at the faucet and handle. I pulled him down numerous times and put him in a different room with toys, but he would not relent. He kept coming back, but I didn't worry about it too much. Finally I was washing Claire's hair and I had shampoo all over one hand and Tommy had climbed up on the bathtub again. As I was pulling him down one-handed he slipped and banged his front tooth on the bathtub. Of course he was hysterically crying, but luckily there was no blood. Tommy had just chipped a little bit of his tooth off. His front teeth are really round and it kind of just flattened out one of the front teeth. I was worried about it because it made the tooth sharp on the corner and I was concerned he could hurt himself on it. So the next morning I took Tommy to our dentist and they smoothed it out and rounded it just a little so that it looked more like the other front tooth. He
really didn't like that trip to the dentist, but hopefully he won't remember it! Here are a few after dentist pictures.
First, typical camera shot of Tommy. He is not a big fan of the flash. :)
If you look closely, his left tooth now a little shorter and not so round.
I didn't really mean to get this shot, but look inside his mouth! You can see his left molar and how the one on the right is almost through, and how the incisors are pushing up too. Plus he has half of his top left molar in and of course the top right molar will be coming soon. This kid cannot catch a teething break.
Claire wanted her picture taken too! Doesn't she look so old?!
I promise I'm not tearing up right now...
Well, I guess I learned my lesson to not pull kids off of something one-handed. And I will be doing bath time differently so Tommy has less time alone out of the bathtub. I'm so grateful his accident was minor and that his tooth still looks good!
