Family BBQ in Utah

Our main family vacation this year was a trip to Utah and Montana to see family over the 4th of July holiday.  Claire and I were able to go out a few days earlier than Jacob so that I could spend a bit more time with my family.  I was a little nervous flying by myself being pregnant and with Claire to chase after, but the worries were needless.  This was actually the easiest flying I had with Claire.  She did great the whole time, not fussing or whining and staying on her seat or my lap.  She even slept most of the last flight-so for 2.5+ hours.  It was great except my butt hurt so badly after because I couldn't adjust my position while holding her and the baby in my belly kept kicking much of the time...I think trying to kick Claire off my belly. :)

So the trip started out great, she ran around having a blast at her cousin's home until about 6:00pm.  She all the sudden got super needy and wouldn't eat any food and kept whining.  She then threw up all over me and the dinner table and just sat there screaming.  I couldn't get her to calm down for the longest time.  She seemed to feel a bit better, but when I checked her temperature it was 102.4, which is the highest she has ever had.  Claire didn't sleep much that night and threw up just a tiny bit, two more times during the night.  It seemed like her stomach had to just rid itself of whatever had been inside.  She still had a slight fever the next day and was happy and sad some, but she did sleep through the night the next night, but only 8 hours or so.  I kept on top of her medicine and gave her bland, simple foods and she seemed to snap out of it.  I have no idea what really was the culpret in this sickness...it could be just flying, maybe she caught a 24 hour bug, maybe she got food poisoning from McDonald's (the food just didn't seem right, but we never eat there so I thought that was how it was supposed to be), or maybe because she was teething her bottom two incisors.  Who knows?!  But I'm happy to report she got back to her normal, happy self and that the rough beginning was not an omen to how the rest of the trip would go.

My sister Beth and her family let us stay with them for a few days and they were so helpful and accommodating when Claire was sick and to just make our stay more comfortable.  Thank you!  We had a family BBQ one night while we were there.  Here are some pics of the fun.

We had a great time visiting my side of the family in Utah.  We were supposed to go swimming the next day at my sister Michele's pool that she manages, but the weather did not cooperate.  We still went up to her house and ate some yummy food and the kids had a blast playing.  Good times!
