Easter Part 1

I have a lot of blogging to catch up on since my sister Beth and her family have been at our home the past 10 days and I have also had a lot of responsibilities with church.  I might as well start at the the beginning with Easter!  We had a wonderful Easter weekend which started with a cute Easter basket from Jacob's parents.  Claire was super excited when she saw the basket, but could not quite figure out how to get into the plastic.  Jacob helped her out and here are a few pictures of her getting into the goods.

Claire checking out the yummy treats.  She pulled out each item and looked it over before going on to the next.  Claire especially loved a cute stuffed bunny.  Thanks grandpa and grandma!

Saturday morning we headed to our church for an Easter egg hunt.  I was pretty worried about it raining the whole time since we had a horrid wind/rain/thunderstorm the night before that kept both Jacob and I awake.  But, the morning turned out beautiful!  We had sunshine and no wind and it warmed up enough to even take our jackets off.  Here is a picture of some of the eggs spread out along the parking lot.  I was actually glad they did it in the parking lot because grass would have been a muddy mess.  Before we went to the hunt I realized Claire probably had no idea what to do for an egg hunt so we practiced in the living room.  I showed her how to pick up the eggs and put them in her basket and Claire quickly got the idea!  After we practiced I showed her that there was candy in each egg and that turned out not to be the best idea at the time.  She no longer wanted to pick up eggs, she just wanted to find the candy.  Luckily at the hunt, Claire didn't bother with the candy until we had hurried and picked up all the eggs we could.

Mommy and Claire waiting for the hunt to start.  She was pretty anxious about having to wait, but she was able to do it!  The doughnuts and milk helped us out. :)

Daddy and Claire waiting as well.  Claire is signing candy by twisting her pointer finger on her cheek.
Super cute!

Claire squinting in the sunlight while a member of our ward told the children a little story about Easter and Jesus.  It was cute to watch Claire sit there and try to scoot closer to the kids and semi-listen to the speaker.

The hunt begins and Claire is picking up as many eggs as fast as she can.

Daddy and Claire checking out the loot.  Claire wasn't too interested in eating the candy besides the non-wrapped jelly beans, but wanted to open each egg to see what was inside.

Claire running around with a few of the other girls in our ward.  She was following them around and thought it was the most fun she had had in a while.  Claire had a blast outside, running everywhere and trying to walk while balancing on the raised car stops.

The first part of Easter was a blast and I am excited for next year already.  Claire will be another year older so she will understand so much more and I have already thought of ways to make Easter more Christ-centered next year.
